8 Seconds of Glory

Went to the rodeo this past weekend at Madison Square Garden...I know...rodeo at MSG?! Really. There were a lot of douchey 'ironic' people (read 'hipster') there who I wanted to punch in the face, but I was comforted to see some real peeps in the Garden. Lots of leather jackets with tassels, pink and blue cowboy shirts w/ the flap on back, etc. Damn, I'm jealous.

It brought back so many good memories of my childhood in South Texas. We went to a few rodeos back in the day and I thought for a minute that I may grow up and be a bull rider. Some of my junior high friends were actually training for it. Maybe I'll go back to it...I'd be such a badass.

This also brings back a more humorous memory...the movie '8 Seconds', starring Luke Perry (who plays Lane Frost) and Stephen Baldwin. They filmed part of the movie in Seguin, Texas...so I was an extra in the film! Funniest part: my sister was a huge Luke Perry fan at the time. Two weeks before the filming, I had accidentally broken her nose when we were playing basketball. When she saw Luke Perry (and he definitely saw her), she had a huge white bandage on her nose.

Luke Perry is so dreamy as Lane Frost.

I just watched 8 Seconds and it has renewed my faith that I can still be a rodeo queen. I say quit this big city fancy job you think you're fooling everyone with and jump on a bull.
