To Kindle...Or Just Use As Kindling?

So of course if I were faced with the hypothetical situation of having an extra $359 sitting around, I would purchase the new Amazon Kindle 2...but as I peeped out a Kindle 2 today in the frog studio, I wondered if this is really worth the investment. IMHO, if I did not reside in a city like New York where one spends a lot of idle time on (or waiting for) mass transit, I would not even consider the Kindle.

As a New Yorker, however, it does have its appeal. With a great UI that seemingly overcomes the problem of reading on a screen, 240,000+ books available a reasonable prices, and just a damn sexy look, this little piece would be nice to have on the subway / bus / in a cab...but $350 is a bit too steep for my recession taste.
